Crosstek is a full service company specializing in solving human-animal roadway, railway and airport challenges using established and innovative technology. Crosstek is the industry leader in reliable and proven Wildlife Vehicle Collision (WVC) prevention, wildlife detection and animal deterrent solutions.
Crosstek's founder and president Tim Hazlehurst, a world-wide recognized expert in the Animal Electrified Barrier field, has over 35 years experience researching, designing, developing and implementing solutions for animal Electrified Barrier challenges, Wildlife Vehicle Collision prevention and habitat connectivity issues.
In 2008, a fence building company called Electrobraid Fence brought in Mr. Hazlehurst to solve critical electrified wildlife fence barrier issues for a project in Colorado that were also threatening the viability of the company. Thanks to Mr. Hazlehurst's expertise Electrobraid Fence was able to salvage the project and keep the company in business.
In 2009, Mr. Hazlehurst was offered to become the second owner and president of Electrobraid Fence. Mr. Hazlehurst's task was to specifically focus on managing Electrobraid Fence's experimental designs and Wildlife Vehicle Collision prevention products in North America and advance these into commercially viable product and service solutions. Mr. Hazlehurst quickly evolved the existing product line and started a series of new product developments.
Since 2009, the company successfully completed multiple government contract and private business projects in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, Florida, Nebraska, Oregon and Canada. Additionally, Mr. Hazlehurst developed six new products, made many significant improvements to existing products and trained employees to become highly-regarded industry experts in wildlife mitigation construction projects and technology applications. Whereas the company had not seen any profits prior to Mr. Hazlehurst's involvement, under his leadership the company realized its first ever profits and grew in just 24 months into a viable multi-million dollar business.
In 2010, Mr. Hazlehurst changed the business name to Crosstek to further emphasize the company's focus on Wildlife Vehicle Collision prevention and animal road and railway crossing solutions and to set it apart from other similar named companies selling horse fencing and electric rope.
In 2012, Mr. Hazlehurst attained full ownership and control over Electrobraid Fence's assets and continued on as Crosstek. This included retaining the USA based wildlife solutions construction crew, the most experienced one in the industry, and a flagship wildlife detection research project on SR 260 in Payson Arizona, which has been under Mr. Hazlehurst's supervision since 2009. Crosstek has continued its research at the site leading to new cutting edge developments in the field of animal detection.
With Mr. Hazlehurst as the sole owner of Crosstek since 2012, the company has grown rapidly and has firmly established itself as the industry leader and primary wildlife road and railway mitigation solution provider in North America and around the word.
In 2014, Crosstek started the world's first controlled study of elk, comparing electric and non-electric embedded roadway deterrents. The results of this study are spawning a new and improved line of products that will revolutionize the industry once again, in the same way Crosstek's leadership has been bringing innovation and new technology to the industry over the past 30 years.
In 2018, Crosstek combined cutting edge radar and thermal detection technology to begin researching and operating the next generation Roadway Animal Detection Systems.
As of 2021, the results have been so successful that the installation has been officially turned over to the Arizona Department of State, with Crosstek remaining in place as consultant.
Crosstek has installed systems across several Western States and more contracts in the works to further deploy its successful Roadway Animal Detection design and system. The latest version includes opportunities for mobile deployment of this Detection System.
Crosstek is about innovation, but more importantly, about building effective and reliable WVC solutions for the some of the greatest challenges that motorists and animals face across the roadways of America, and around the world.
